14 years with Disney taught Hugh the power of magic. The magic he seeks now is a happy ending for abused children. The Director of Program Operations for non-profit Childhelp Tennessee says, “I witness child victims of unmentionable acts. I want to make Knoxville a world-class community for protecting them.” Hugh is proud of Childhelp’s growth and is especially grateful for a supportive board. In addition to its Foster Family Agency, Childhelp’s children’s advocacy center hosts nearly 1000 alleged child abuse victims (89% sexual) annually. “It’s a “one-stop-shop.” Agencies investigate a case under one roof in a kid-friendly environment to reduce a child’s trauma,” Hugh explains. “The system has lots of moving parts.” The beekeeper hobbyist chose to take the road less traveled to make a difference. As a new father to two-year-old Trace, Hugh admits, “Because of him I have passion for my job; otherwise, I would’ve never qualified.”

Best thing about reading skirt? It paints the picture of what’s going on in the community.
Best thing about wearing skirt? I like that skirts come in so many patterns. I could never find or wear pants with pineapples on them.
