Catherine N. Frye, Stained Glass Artist, Maryville,TN

I’d like to learn: Ballet, but I’m too uncoordinated. However, there IS a ballerina trapped inside me that wants to get out and dance.

The most important thing I ever lost: My father.

Never: Be embarrassed of who you are!

The world would be a better place, if only: People had common sense and listened to others.

Something most people don’t know about me: I can’t hear very well so I read lips to understand what people are saying.

My mother always said: Always change your underwear.

What are you most vain about?: I’m a great mediator who can see both sides to most any situation and remain unbiased.

The one item that has changed my life: My yoga mat. I have scoliosis and haven’t had to go to the chiropractor since starting yoga a couple of years ago.

The best thing I ever won: Awards and money for pottery I made in junior high. It’s still on display at the school.

My passion: Art and spreading the love of art to others.

Words I live by: “There is nothing so strong as gentleness and nothing so gentle as real strength.” Frances de Sales

What keeps me awake at night: My dog laying on top of me…he’s 75 lbs. and thinks he’s still a 4 1/2 lb. puppy.

If I could be totally wild, I would: Move to Italy and work with the great Stained Glass masters there.

Right now I’m reading: Reading Lolita in Tehran by Azar Nafisi
