she`s so skirt!
Jaimie Matzko takes a long coffee break.
The Thunderhead Latte keeps this barista percolating. Or is it the Café Mocha? Whichever, Jaimie is ready for the 7am daily grind, brewing up customers’ favorite cup-o-joe at her Townsend coffeehouse, Thunderhead Perk. “When people are used to having good coffee, they don’t want their only option to be a gas station,” she says. Years teaching environmental education taught Jaimie the value of organic products. Salad bowls are corn-made; even her organic T-shirts are sewn by a Nicaraguan women’s co-op. “It’s my business’ theme,” she explains. “Everything we purchase affects other cultures and environments while enjoying a good product.” Caffeina is the Roman goddess of clear thought and energy. Jaimie identifies, saying, “You need all those characteristics to run a business. It takes a lot to keep people happy, and a friendly atmosphere is equally important to the product itself.” Jaimie’s “dream scheme” includes coffeehouses outside every national park. “In rural areas it’s a nice place to go after a hike or meet new people.” That aroma could definitely be the sweet smell of success.
